Sunlight Warmth

Spring snow falls as the chickens refuse to be cooped inside during these growing days of light.  Well past the equinox, greens emerge from the thawing ground in the high tunnels, seedlings are covered, uncovered, misted & moved as we plan & plant seeds for the year.  Carrots overwintered are sweet, spinach is ready to harvest, & the root cellar is emptying.  The old timers remember this time as the hunger month.  Sweet sap boils though, enriching all meals throughout the day.  No buds on the trees yet, freeze-thaw.
